GCS 2019 Choreo Weekend in the Books
On September 21st and 22nd, we continued a favorite annual GCS tradition, Choreo Weekend! First held in 2015, Choreo Weekend is a two-day bootcamp dedicated to learning choreography, goal-setting, and team bonding. Driving north to Clifton Park, NY gives us a change of scenery and allows us to focus on our team without distractions of day-to-day city life.
From Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon, Adult and Masters had schedules filled with on-ice and off-ice practices, goal-setting, and a competition hair lesson. Their breaks were spent grabbing food at Panera (a skating staple), coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts or relaxing at the hotel napping or reviewing videos from the day.
The coaches always make sure to build time in the schedule for Adult and Masters to have an activity as an entire organization. One of these activities is a Saturday night pizza party in the hotel lobby. Additionally, we always wrap up the weekend with an hour of shared on-ice practice, where each team can show what they have accomplished at bootcamp, and have a cheering section. After trading off runthroughs, we took our first full team photo of the season, and then packed up and began our journeys back to New York City.
